Artist birthday party: how to decorate

Artist Party Decorations are definitely the way to go to let your friends know they are about to enter an area of extreme creativity and birthday fun as they make their way to the door of your artist birthday party.

Outside Decorations

Set the stage for your birthday by starting your artist party decorations right out your front door.

Place an art easel announcing the 1st Annual Birthday Art Show near your door. Decorate the sign with any kind of doodles and drawings.

You can also use chalk and decorate your driveway or walk way with pictures of crayons and swirls of color.

Center each art work on a larger colored piece of card stock to make a frame. On the frame part write the name of your masterpiece.

Something like "Carla Flying a Kite and eating PB&J" or "Pig-Dog Surfing in Winter Boots").

Make sure to add your name and the date it was created. Hang these on your front door or from tree branches or place on stakes in the ground. Your guests will get a kick out of them and this pre-show continues to set the artistic mood for the party.

Materials Needed:
  • Easel.

  • Paint or markers.

  • Chalk.

  • Card stock or poster board.

  • Glue or tape.

  • Stakes or string to put art work on.

Additional outside art birthday party decorating ideas are to hang primary color balloons on mail box and along walkway. And you finally have a use for those old paint cans in the basement. Use them to anchor the balloons and stack two or three artistically at the base of your easel.

Inside Decorations

Inside artist party decorations keep the party theme fun. You don't need much. Just a splash here and there to keep the artist birthday party theme going. Here are some suggestions:

  • Famous Works of Art - Find copies of Famous Works of Art. Print out or photocopy and hang with card board frames.
  • Your Famous Works of Art - Just like the outside decorating idea use your old art pictures or make some crazy new ones (maybe a portrait of each guest doing something uniquely "them"). Center each art work on a larger colored piece of card stock to make a frame. On the frame part write the name of your master piece. (Something like "Carla Flying a Kite and eating PB&J" or "Pig-Dog Surfing in Winter Boots"). Make sure to add your name and the date it was created. Hang these throughout the party area.
  • Creative Streamers - Tie crayons at intervals along long lengths of colorful curling ribbon. Hand as you would streamers.
  • Use paint splattered butcher block paper as table covers or plain butcher block paper and let kids draw on it with crayons as they eat their cake.
  • Splashes of Color - balloons, streamers, long flowing curly ribbons tied here and there, swatches of colorful fabric draped over furniture or sheer fabrics in the windows or over tree branches.
